USAID and Mindanao communities track education access and quality

USAID’s EQuALLS2 project encouraged the participation of local communities in increasing access to quality education in Mindanao by training 45 members of four barangays from Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat on April 19-24, 2010 to track their local education improvement with Barangay (village) Education Report Cards (BERCs).

US Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Leslie Bassett attended an English Language Camp of the U.S. Peace Corps and USAID’s Education Quality and Access for Learning and Livelihood Skills (EQuALLS2) project on April 16, 2010 in Tagaytay City to support teachers working in conflict-affected areas in Mindanao.

USAID strengthens education mentoring in Basilan, South Cotabato, and Sultan Kudarat

USAID’s EQuALLS2 project deepened its work with 36 public elementary school teacher-mentors and mentees from Basilan province in the face of their many conflict- and poverty-related education challenges, in a workshop held on April 8-10, 2010 in Zamboanga City.

Global Development Alliances drive education improvement in Mindanao

The recent turnover of a newly constructed two-classroom building in Malapatan, Sarangani province highlights the partnership between USAID and Petron Foundation in addressing the classroom shortage in the country, a Global Development Alliance partnership managed by USAID’s Education Quality and Access for Learning and Livelihood Project (EQuALLS2). Petron Foundation is the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of Petron Corporation, one of the largest petroleum companies in the Philippines.
