The American people, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), are helping the Philippine government to address challenges in the Philippine education sector. USAID assistance to help improve the education sector in Mindanao is carried out by the EDUCATION QUALITY and ACCESS for LEARNING and LIVELIHOOD SKILLS (EQuALLS2) project. The project offers a core set of interventions aimed at increasing access to quality education for elementary school children, and relevant learning and livelihood skills training for out-of-school youth. The EQuALLS2 project is implemented under the coordination of the Education Development Center (EDC) in partnership with a team of international and local organizations with expertise in education and youth development in Mindanao. Project interventions are delivered in partnership with the Department of Education (DepED) and DepED in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), together with local government units and education stakeholders in the community.
