The EQuALLS2 Project went to the ARMM Education Congress on June 4 and 5, 2010 in Cagayan de Oro City where about 400 school administrators were gathered to chart a strategy for the region's education reform.
The Congress theme was "Restoring people's faith and trust in public schools through education reforms."
DepED ARMM Secretary Dr. Hamid Barra said ARMM's education reform is the region's contribution to the nation's efforts to eradicate ignorance, poverty, and corruption.
He then proceeded to outline some of the steps that should help them achieve this goal: review, reform, and revision of the curriculum to make it more relevant to current times; writing of materials for the use of teachers (manuals); and training of teachers.
The Congress included presentations of programs and policy directions and special sessions such as on the Peace Education Framework for ARMM.
The region's School District Supervisors expressed eagerness to continue working with EQuALLS2, especially since Secretary Barra challenged them to demonstrate this year their contribution to the ARMM's "transformation."
