USAID facilitated an interfaith dialogue between US Commissioner on International Religious Freedom Imam Talal Eid and 20 youth leaders from Mindanao on February 13, 2010 in Cotabato City.

The Muslim, Christian, and indigenous youth leaders were in- and out-of-school youth from communities and madaris (Islamic schools) that are being assisted by USAID’s EQuALLS2 project.

They discussed with the Commisisioner their interests, academic pursuits, dreams, and roles in finding a long-term resolution to the violence and conflicts in Mindanao.

Earlier in the week, from February 9 to 10, USAID’s EQuALLS2 project gathered 60 public elementary school officials from Region XII for a Peace Education Forum in support of the Department of Education’s thrust to integrate values, skills, and practices that promote peace in the country’s basic education and non-formal education curricula.
