USAID’s EQuALLS2 project and Microsoft Corporation imparted sustainable ICT skills and training, as demonstrated by ICT mentor teachers from Midsayap, North Cotabato training 49 of their fellow public elementary school teachers on April 19-30, 2010 at USAID-funded computer hubs.

These mentor teachers were trained in 2009 through a partnership between USAID’s EQuALLS2 project and Microsoft.

Recently, with community-mobilized resources, the teachers borrowed an LCD projector and secured a standby generator for power interruptions.

“We conducted this series of trainings to help our co-teachers... easily prepare school reports, grading sheets, visual aids, and lesson plans, ... and become [more] effective and efficient teachers,” said Josephine Guarino, Grade VI teacher from Midsayap’s Kimagango Central Elementary School.

USAID’s EQuALLS2 project has equipped 1,210 teachers with basic computer literacy skills and has delivered 104 computer suites to 15 computer hubs in 10 municipalities in areas heavily affected by conflict and poverty in Mindanao.
