USAID strengthened the teaching of English, science, and math to out-of-school children and youth (OSCY) in Mindanao conflict areas by training 39 OSCY educators under the alternative learning program of USAID’s Education Quality and Access for Learning and Livelihood Skills (EQuALLS2) Project from April 30 to May 5, 2010 in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.
The training focused on imparting active teaching and learning techniques to the educators to make learning more meaningful, fun, engaging, relevant, and interesting for the learners.
The educators also learned practical teaching techniques such as the use of water bottles to make a model of the human respiratory system.
USAID's EQuALLS2 Project is assisting 105,000 OSCY in conflict areas in Mindanao through alternative basic education and workforce development training.
