| Communities discussed their Barangay Education Report Cards in education assemblies to track local education improvement. |
Four communities in Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat held Education Assemblies on August 5, 6, and 9, 2010 to drive local education improvement using Barangay (Community) Education Report Cards (BERCs).
The barangay captains first delivered a State Of the Barangay Address (SOBA) during the assemblies to inform their constituents of the socio-economic progress of their village, which included the state of local education.
Then the parents, teachers, and other community members reviewed together their earlier-identified indicators of local education improvement both for formal and non-formal education, which they will use to track their education progress using the BERC system.
The indicators pertain to the local physical education facilities, teaching and learning resources, student and learner achievements and skills, and parent participation and community support.
Representatives from the local government of Lutayan who attended the assemblies committed to install a BERC information corner at their barangay halls, and to establish an MIS-based BERC data bank on the progress of each participating barangay.
